About the event

Building Liberatory Narratives and People Power

How do people make meaning of the economic conditions shaping their lives?

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking workshop designed for youth, young adults, educators, organizers, and community leaders who are interested in understanding the power of stories to shape communities and inspire action.

Facilitated by Anneshia Hardy, Executive Director of Alabama Values, this session explores how culture, memory, identity, and lived experiences influence the way people understand issues such as opportunity, wealth, work, and well-being. Participants will examine how public narratives are formed, learn strategies for challenging harmful narratives, and discover how storytelling can be used as a tool for community engagement and social change.

Through discussion, reflection, and interactive activities, attendees will explore:

  • Narrative Power and Public Meaning
